Outboard Motor Comments

Mercury totally DOMINATED the competition in terms of the percentage of boats wearing their outboard motors. Competitive drives were few and far between. My casual stroll spotted a few larger Yamaha drives, a couple Honda drives and ONE Evinrude. Every row you looked down was Mercury Black. Jimmy Houston's boats even sported custom labeled Mercury outboards with his name on the cover.

Honda's big Vtec 225 four stroke was at the show on a pontoon boat.

One small boat sported an inflated bag resembling a Honda outboard. I thought it was kind of neat, but some may have thought it was silly.

Yamaha's VMax 250 was at the show, sitting next to a bunch of Mercury drives. It is pretty easy looking at them side by side to see some of the confusion about who built what.

A pontoon boat sporting twin Merc 300 Power Max drives claimed to have set a world speed record for pontoons of 81 mph.
