    LAKE FOREST, Ill., Oct. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Brunswick Corporation
BC announced today that Patrick C. Mackey, 54, has been named
president of its Mercury Marine Group. Mackey, a former executive vice
president of Witco Corporation, succeeds George W. Buckley, who was elected
chairman and CEO of Brunswick in June 2000.
    "Throughout his career Pat has successfully developed strategies that
resulted in revenue growth and profitability," said Buckley.  "His experience
in implementing cost-effective business practices while adopting new
technologies and improving products will help him guide Mercury in its
continued success as the industry's technology leader.  Pat is also an
engineer, and his background will help ensure the progress Mercury has already
made in innovation and tight operational control will continue."
    In addition to his previous service at Witco Corporation, Mackey's career
includes more than 30 years experience in a variety of operating positions
throughout Europe with E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company.
