Brief Recent History

Sept. 1997 - Greenway acquired the financially struggling OMC
22 Dec 2000 - OMC filed for bankruptcy
Feb 2001 - The outboard product lines were sold to Bombardier in a bankruptcy auction.
3 Apr 2003 - Bombardier announced plans to sell its Recreation Division (boats and motors), perhaps to the Bombardier family
27 August 2003 - Bombardier announced sale of their Recreation unit to the Bombardier family for $875 million

On 9 November 2004, Bombardier Recreational Products released a press release announcing they would be cutting 800 jobs and selling off two of their outboard component factories. They cite the rise in the Canadian dollar as compared to the U.S. dollar, rising oil prices and rising commodity prices as the reason. Market share was not listed as reason.
