OMC Christmas Shutdown

19 Dec. 2000

OMC announced they temporarily closed/shut down all boat and engine manufacturing operations beginning December 15th as part of an extended Christmas shutdown.

They also suspended all dealer shipments and expect to recall employees in about a month.

Increasing dealer inventory and an overall weaknes in the market were cited as reasons for the extended shutdown on the heels of the announcement of 1,000 layoffs a few days ago.
