MIAMI BEACH, Florida (CNN) -- Singer Gloria Estefan and her producer-husband, Emilio, are not to blame for a deadly boating accident, police said.
A man was killed and a woman injured Sunday when the personal watercraft they were riding collided with the Estefan's pleasure boat off Miami Beach. Both accident victims were students at Howard University in Washington, D.C.
According to police, Howard Clark, 29, may have been jumping boat wakes and came too close to the Estefan's 33-foot vessel, which was traveling less than 20 mph. Clark was sent airborne by the wake and was thrown into the boat's propeller, police said. Clark's passenger, Tisha Greene, 22, is in stable condition with head bruises.
In 1990, Gloria Estefan broke her back in a bus accident and needed nearly a year to recover.
