LAKE FOREST, Ill., May 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Brunswick Corporation
announced today that George W. Buckley has been elected president and chief
operating officer of the company.
Buckley, 52, joined Brunswick in 1997 as president of the Mercury Marine
Group and was elected a corporate senior vice president in 1998 and executive
vice president in Feb. 2000. He is also a member of Brunswick's board of
directors. Buckley joined Brunswick from Emerson Electric Company.
Commenting on the announcement, Brunswick Chairman and Chief Executive
Officer Peter N. Larson said, "The company will benefit from George's
extensive experience in driving improved operating performance, which is
evident in the excellent results posted by Mercury under his leadership.
Looking ahead, George and I will work closely with other senior executives,
both in an operating context and on longer-term strategic plans, to assure the
continued growth of Brunswick and its leadership brands."
