Genetic Algorithms

One forecasting technology that has been in the press recently is Genetic Algorithms. It is being studied by several universities and is actually being applied by several companies. The method is being applied when companies have models with a lot of options. It allows a computer to "breed"schedules with each one being an improvement over the last.
